2022
The Brancusi Studio series began around 2017 following a visit to the recreated Brancusi Studio outside the Pompidou Centre in Paris. Quickly enamoured with Brancusi’s work, I made drawings which I then worked from back in my own studio. Reading his biography with great interest, I embarked on a body of work in which I reimagined events that may or may not have taken place in his atelier. The artist and his work allow me to explore ideas about creativity and the subconscious, work and play, and use art history as a sand pit for stylistic and conceptual notions around painting. This body of work is ongoing.
